Anthony from Double A Jazz is a great jazz guitar instructor. Focusing on playing songs rather than doing exercises. He is a teacher first and foremost, and introduces every concept or idea gradually, before moving on. I’ve learned more from him about playing music as part of a small combo, than from anyone else. Jerry (New York City)
I got started in music as a singer. In my twenties, I had the good fortune to study at both Berklee College of Music and The Juilliard School as a singer. Anthony's jazz guitar teaching is of the same calibre as the instruction that I received at those renowned schools. Anthony seems to love what he does. He's passionate about the jazz repertoire and really enjoys teaching it. What this means as a student of his is that he's extremely positive, upbeat, present, and generous with his time and resources. He takes a lot of pleasure in sharing copious amounts of helpful information with his students! His approach with his students is very kind and respectful which creates good conditions for learning because the student feels safe to be a beginner. He listens to the student's goals intently and uses their goals to create a curriculum that's efficient and effective. He knows how to avoid unnecessary theoretical jargon. I first started studying with him to learn how to accompany myself on jazz standards. He helped me realize that goal very quickly. (Now we're working on lead playing.) He's a great player but he never shows off during lesson time. He uses every minute of the lesson to help the student move closer to their playing goals. I'm grateful to have found him as a teacher and I would highly recommend him both for private lessons and for his workshops.

Anthony has a fantastic in-depth knowledge of Jazz. This includes the history, the music and of course the Jazz Guitar component of both, which is undoubtedly his passion. His attention to detail and knowledge is amazing from recordings to musicians to arrangements.
Anthony's teaching style is unique whereby he encourages students to learn all aspects of handpicked songs (Jazz Standards) and incorporates theory within this. In doing so, Anthony avoids us students from getting bogged down with the complicated technicalities of theory and hence encourages practical deployment. Students therefore have an immediate understanding of theory being applied in practical situations through Anthony's teaching and guidance.
Anthony is a very approachable, considerate and a skilled guitar teacher. I would recommend anyone considering playing Jazz Guitar to sign up for the workshops in the first instance to appreciate the scope of what you can learn! You will be groomed to jam with other musicians, play in a set band or just play solo. You will even get to meet & network with other keen Jazz Guitarists in the workshops from around the world, who are all part of the Double A Jazz Global Community!! (Russel, London, England U.K.)
A one on one lesson with Anthony. Contact Anthony to schedule a convenient time. Discounts available for learners wishing to book multiple lessons.
